WestFjords Iceland with a motorhome
Welcome to heaven!
Take Norway, Eire, Scotland (3 of my favorite locations), then add a dab of one thing totally distinctive… and also you get the breathtaking Westfjords in Iceland.
It’s not a big space, however round every nook is a view that makes your jaw drop. I feel I finished round 9000 instances and nearly stuffed up a tough drive with images and drone footage! The YouTube video is simply going to encompass me going ‘wow’ quite a bit!
There are many scorching springs, a few of the largest cliffs in Europe, fjords, mountains, lakes, and even tropical white sand seashores (unsure how heat the water is although!)
You may drive it in a circle, with a few off-shoots. Be warned, the roads are NOT for the faint-hearted. Some are tremendous, however some are gravel and VERY bumpy, though doable in a 2WD motorhome.
The worst have been the pretty steep inclines and descents (15% at one level!), on gravel, with completely no security boundaries to cease you sliding over for those who obtained a hairpin flawed… 😳
However don’t let that put you off visiting. It’s BEAUTIFUL and has been one of many highlights of the journey to this point. Don’t miss the waffle cafe- they’re scrumptious! Whales are commonly seen within the fjord there too.
I used to be so fortunate to take pleasure in two days of sunshine earlier than the rain began, so I obtained to play with the drone quite a bit (particularly the ‘comply with’ mode). Simply watch out for the wind- there might be actually sturdy gusts whenever you flip a nook. Oh, and the birds attempt to assault the drone too! 😱
’Mo’ (the Adamo) has achieved extremely well- she’s nonetheless trucking alongside taking care of me. I wasn’t positive how an computerized would cope on these hills, however it’s been nice and really easy to drive. Going again to a guide may be a wrestle!
