Journey Tidbits – Caught on the Airport

PIT Airport Welcomes Former Tuskegee Airman
In 2013, Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) put in an exhibit on Concourse A to inform the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the primary African-American U. S. army aviation unit.
Whereas honoring all of the Tuskegee Airmen who served in World Battle II, the exhibit has a particular which means for Western Pennsylvania. As a result of it seems extra Tuskegee airmen hail from that a part of the US than from every other area.
This week, one of many final surviving Tuskegee Airmen, retired Lt. Col. James Harvey, had an opportunity to go to the PIT exhibit.
99-year-old Harvey is a former fighter pilot and the U.S. army’s first Black fighter pilot to fly missions over Korean airspace. He was touring via the airport along with his household and different army dignitaries on his means dwelling after serving as grand marshal of Pittsburgh’s Juneteenth parade.
